Cogs2Computers, our National Lottery Heritage Funded 2020/2021 project, is designed to support and bring the Red2Green community, the local schools and the public together to learn the history of computers, to enjoy interacting with one another and to learn something new. We are incredibly grateful to all who participate in the National Lottery, as their money allows for these kinds of projects to happen!

GamingTime really does fly when you’re having fun and the past 6 weeks really have flown.
Options and Aspirations have both had bags of fun with video game consoles from across the years. Staff and generous members of the local community have donated various consoles including a Wii and PS2 for our clients and learners to use. Many have not had the opportunity to play these games before and it has been a massive success. For those who are already BIG GAMERS it was enjoyable to see them revisiting old consoles they have had in the past and again teaching their tutors and support workers how to play the games, a real collaboration of work and ideas, learning and fun. The gaming segment was complimented by a virtual tour of The centre for computing history’s gaming department. All bubbles and Swaffham Bulbeck Primary School logged in with some great questions fielded to Dan and Adrian. The museum is most defiantly worth visiting and not just for their gaming but all their other computer history. Their link is on our C2C home page. It was all summed up by a fabulous 2 day outdoor gaming session again presented by The centre for computing history. Tuesday 8th saw them set up at our garden site in Bottisham with bubble Y popping over to play in the afternoon. Tutors and staff were so pleased to see clients and learners join in that hadn’t shown any interest in computer games before and not only just enjoy themselves but actually master the controls and progress in the various games… This makes us so happy. Wednesday 9th was the barn’s turn with Bubbles A, X and Z joining in. Again it was fantastic to see different clients coming out of their shell and discovering new skills and enjoyment. We offer our heartfelt thanks to the museum for their work over these days and they have definitely become a firm favourite with some clients and learners. |
