Our learners with good keyboard skills and an interest in history, are getting the chance to earn some cash. We are taking part in an exciting history project which will be showcased at the Cambridge Museum of Technology. The Pye History Trust, which promotes the role the Pye Group of companies has played in the “Cambridge Phenomenon” since the 1960s, has some oral history interviews which need transcribing. So they have asked Red2Green to help with this. Volunteers will carry out these transcriptions with specially supplied equipment with our support and are paid £50 for each hour of transcription completed. Sharon, Aspirations Operations Manager says “Pye’s history project is giving our learners on the autistic spectrum a great opportunity to learn some new skills in a work environment with the added advantage of getting paid.”
We have just opened a new community café in Bottisham which gives our learners opportunities to get involved in all aspects of the business. They have already been choosing menus, working out how we can best be as eco friendly as possible, doing their basic food hygiene training and have now progressed onto preparing and serving homemade scones and sausages rolls.
