Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance of the organisation, ensuring that it is run safety and effectively. They delegate day to day running of the organisation to the Chief Executive, Ruth Rogers. The Trustees have a range of experience and expertise.

The Trustees are

  • Roger Crabtree - Chair. Roger was HR Director for one of the international divisions of Philips Electronics. After leaving Philips, he set up a consultancy in HR and organisational development. He was a non executive director in the NHS for 10 years and Chair of Governors at Long Road 6th Form College from 1993 to 2000. He has lived in Cambridge for 40 years, raising 3 daughters and now enjoying 10 grandchildren.
  • Jenny Greene - Vice Chair. Jenny had a long career with social services in Cambridgeshire and latterly led a team commissioning services for people with learning disabilities and particularly promoting the development of services in the not for profit sector. Following retirement, she worked in Oxford and North East London assisting with joint commissioning and reviewing services. For 6 years she was a non executive director on the board of Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon. She is involved in housing and care for older people with the Abbeyfield Society
  • Tony Kirk - Tony is a qualifed accountant who recently left his previous employer after 35 years in order to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life. He now works as a consultant and on short term contracts in finance and system implementation. He lives in Newmarket with his family.
  • Pauline Brown - Pauline moved to Cambridge from Buckinghamshire in 1981 to set up a pioneering initiative in integrating visually impaired children into mainstream education. This led to the development of the LEA Visual Impairment Service to serve all children with visual impairment in Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire from birth to 19, including those with additional disabilities. Since retirement she has become involved with several disability organisations and acts as a consultant on issues relating to access, communication and awareness raising.
  • Suan Goh - Suan was an NHS Consultant in public health medicine with a wide portfolio including community care, vulnerable groups, social inclusion, research and assessment of the impact of the environment, including population growth, on health. Prior to the NHS she lived and worked in Africa and Bangladesh, providing front line services for training of community health workers in community development projects.
  • Jane Miller - Jane worked for adult social care for many years, working closely with the voluntary sector. Jane enjoys being active.
  • Chris Nelson - Chris works as a consultant in the public and thrid sectors. He established his own successful business in 1995 after a decade as a senior manager in Cambridgeshire. He was Chief Executive at Cambridgeshire ACRE, the County Council's Community Planning Manager and Head of Chief Executive's Unit at Fenland District Council.
  • Fred Peeling - Fred was assistant head at Bottisham Village College with responsibility for community education until retirement in 2003 and then he was one of the "founding fathers" of Red2Green. During his 16 years in community education, he establshed many courses and activities for people with special needs and actively upported the integration of people with disabilities into the wider community.
  • Alison Weissburg - Alison was a GP in Cambridge for over 20 years. Following retirement, she has become a Governor at her local primary school.
